Welcome on Kraska pihalna godba's web site

The ensemble was founded in 1992. All the members, though very young, share rich experience and have been recruited from the Sežana school of Music. More than 50 musicians have been playing and practicing together twice a week since September 1999. During holidays, the management organizes camps and courses in which the young musicians not only practise intensively but also enjoy swimming, discovering new places and socializing. The ensemble gives more than 20 performances and concerts every year. In their short history they have been on tours in Croatia, Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria and Spain. In 2002, they returned from a high profile competition in Spain as the absolute winner with a prize cheque of 4800 Euros. They regularly participate in competitions organised by The Association of Slovenian Bands. They have won one silver and one gold award in the third difficulty level category and one silver and one gold award in the second difficulty level category. At the International Competition of Wind Instrument Bands in Saint Vincent (Valle d’Aosta) in September 2005, they took the honours of fourth place. At the New Year’s concert in December 2005, they hosted prof. Steven Mead, the international musician and esteemed pedagogue on euphonium, from Great Britain. In March 2003, they hosted the well-known trombone player prof. Jacques Mauger from Paris who held an international seminar for the trombone. All involved were proud to play together in a concert in Sežana at the close of the seminar. The ensemble’s repertoire is various and rich. They like playing film music, which is close to the young musicians. They are lead and conducted by prof. Ivo Bašič.
